Bihar Government Approves 2026 Holiday Calendar for Government Employees
The Bihar Cabinet has officially approved the list of public holidays for government employees for the year 2026. Under an executive order, all offices under the state government and all Revenue and Executive Magistrate Courts will observe 11 fixed holidays.
Of these 11 holidays, two fall on Sundays, meaning employees won’t receive additional days off for those dates.
Additionally, as per the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act, 1881, the state government has declared a total of 24 public holidays. Out of these, four also fall on Sundays.
In total, government employees in Bihar will have 35 designated holidays in 2026. However, since six of these holidays coincide with Sundays, employees will effectively enjoy 29 distinct non-working days beyond their regular weekly off.
